History has been made. On October 18, 2019 the first ever all-female spacewalk was conducted by astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch. The spacewalk officially began at 7:38 am E.T. The walk will approximately be around 5 or 6 hours. This will be Koch’s fourth spacewalk and Meir’s first. 12 US women have conducted 40 spacewalks over the past 35 years. This makes Koch and Meir 13th and 14th on that list. Astronaut Tracy Dyson states that she hopes this is just the first all-female spacewalk and that it becomes a more normal occurrence that we see today.
