I disagree with the absence policy here at St. James. Students are only allowed to miss 5 days of school a semester. Sometimes students are incapable of making it to school due to the environment, family problems, car problems, or personal health issues. I think that kids should be able to have other things than only doctors notes excused. If people do go over five missed school days then they have to go to makeup school. I think that students shouldn't have to go to makeup school in order to pass that semester. Students should be able to miss more than five days of school a semester.
People that support the idea of students not being able to miss more than five days a semester are mostly administrators or teachers. They believe if a student misses more than five days a semester then they aren't getting the correct amount of education they should be. They also say that makeup school is a way you can eliminate one of the days you missed of school. I do not agree with administrators and teachers on this rule.
I think a way to change the rule is for students to bring the idea up to Mr. Pennell. Hopefully, he would take it into consideration and either eliminate or adjust the current rule. I believe students should be able to miss more than five days of school a semester.
