Throughout the grounds of our school, there are plenty of unnoticed, talented students. There are many students who spend hours upon hours writing poetry, not necessarily because they have a poem due for class the next day, but to release their inner emotions. Therefore, I’d like to take a poem from a student each week to post anonymously or non anonymously on sharkattackonline.com so that they can share their talents with the rest of the school.

"My castle has been breached,
My walls lay crumbled,
My foundation unstable.
This happens to often.
Why must it happen to me?
A new kingdom is needed,
A change from the ordinary,
One of less betrayal,
One that can support my inner struggles.
It is all becoming too much for me to handle.
I wear a crown but I am nowhere near a king.
I am just a common man who has been let down one too many times.
I wish these walls were stronger.
I wish my heart was stronger.
Love could be so easy then,
But my heart is fragile,
Just as my castle is.
You could be my support,
My castle's guardian,
But you never seem to answer my call.
So the breach of my castle continues
Day after day,
Just like my desire for you." - The student who wrote this poem, wishes to be annonymous.

If you’d like to be one of the students to post something, you can email me at mackenziecollins1@live.horrycountyschools.net.

  1. Incredible, this was a very dramatic read and although I don't have anyone to specifically thank I'd like to say it was powerful. Also a thanks to Mackenzie, I am so glad you are getting responses from students. If this continues you will have yourself a real life column with actual outside input. I've got my fingers crossed that you get more art work, good luck!
