Step Team's impressive feats
Here at St. James, the Xclusive steppers act like a family when they put their heads together and stomp their feet on the ground.
“I love when my girls work hard, and step their hearts out. Step team is a great way to be original and show who you really are. When we go out there we start big, and end big.” Said Sophomore Chris Denson.
Stepping or step-dancing is a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps.
Though stepping may be performed by an individual, it is generally performed by groups of three or more, often in arrangements that resemble military formations.
Sadly, some schools in Horry County do not have a step team because students in the school aren’t supportive of it, and don’t believe that it is important, but I beg to differ.
I believe that step team is important because it shows school spirit, and it is a good way to express yourself.
“If step team wasn’t here I don’t know what I would do. Those are my girls and I love the team because we are loved by the school, and we know how to show shark spirit.” Said Sophomore Daisha Cooper.
Even though I’m not a part of step team I strongly believe that every school should have one because it’s a wonderful way to build a relationship with your fellow classmates, and show strong emotions.
