Miss St. James lets her light shine

by Stephanie Panos
There are dresses, tiaras, tears, and only one 2012 Miss St. James. On Saturday evening, 11 beautiful students gathered to compete to become this year's Miss St. James.

The pageant started at six o’clock and ended around eight thirty. The pageant was organized by Mrs. McBride, Mrs. Mitchell, and Ms. Howard. The pageant was also hosted by Cody Dean and Jake Wentz. Although all eleven ladies were talented and all so beautiful, only one reigned superior and let her true light shine, Miss Josie Thompson.

Josie Thompson is a sophomore at this school. She said “I feel honored because there were many other beautiful women I was blessed to be with during the Miss St. James pageant. There was a lot of amazing talent that everyone got to witness and I was proud and extremely honored to be crowned your Miss St. James.”

There were many other events the girls competed in and the winners were:

Best dressed: Macy Mikolajzcyk

Miss Congeniality: Macy Mikolajzcyk

Best Talent: Mica Francis

Miss Freshman: Kaitlyn Funderburk

Miss Sophomore: Macy Mikolajzcyk

Miss Junior: Alexa Falvey

Miss Senior: Mica Francis

All of the ladies looked stunning up on stage and although only one took home the crown they were all longing for, they are all winners in our hearts. The pageant was fun to attend and really shows all of the ladies inner beauty. Macy Mikolajzcyk said “It feels really awesome to have won all those awards; it’s a real privilege to represent my class and be able to give them guidance whenever needed.”

Both Macy and Josie said that the pageant could’ve been a tad more organized because sometimes it was very hectic and stressful for not only them but for the other ladies as well. They said that they were glad they participated regardless.

All of the ladies did an excellent job and thank you for participating in letting your light shine!
